Interested in Scala or Functional Programming? Please join us for the inaugural Scala By The Bay conference, from the organizers of the SF Scala Meetup and 2013’s Silicon Valley Scala Symposium. Held at the Fort Mason Center on the beautiful San Francisco waterfront, this is an opportunity for Scala developers and functional programming enthusiasts to congregate, learn, and discuss the latest innovations and technologies in the field. Currently planned talks include wide ranging topics such as Scala development frameworks, Machine Learning, Data Science, Functional Programming practices, Concurrency, and more.
We are incredibly lucky to have keynotes from some of the top innovators in our industry, each opening the two days of our conference.
Marius Eriksen – Principal Engineer in Twitter’s systems infrastructure group – will draw on his interests in large-scale distributed systems, storage systems, indexing systems, data management, distributed coordination, runtimes, profiling tools, networks, network protocols, and functional programming.
Matei Zaharia – assistant professor at MIT and CTO of Databricks – will discuss his work on Apache Spark. Matei started Apache Spark as part of a research project at UC Berkeley, having been involved in the Big Data communities for many years through such projects as Hadoop, Mesos, and Shark.
Following these keynotes will be two action packed days of talks on a range of topics, with multiple tracks geared towards varied experienced levels. Learn more about what is going on in the Scala community, or simply mingle with your contemporaries in the much vaunted hallway track.
Interested in a deeper dive on specific topics? We are pleased to have partnered with some of the leading trainers in the Scala and Spark communities to offer hands-on classroom trainings in addition to our conference track. More information and course details are available on our Training Page.
With so much variety and depth in both pre- and post- conference training, Scala By The Bay offers a comprehensive learning opportunity for software engineers of all levels – from beginner to expert.
If you want to improve your Scala skills, learn new techniques or just meet some of the top innovators in the Scala community, don't miss this conference!
